3 Reviews of the Superlight Quasar
By: LORRAINE CARTER Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2011 Rating:
Bought this so that our Grandchildren could come on holidays with us as our motorhome is only 3 berth.Very pleased with every aspect and the kids love it.We are hoping to take them to France next year and if we are successful we will upgrade to a larger version from the same company as we are so pleased with the quality of the one we have now

I also own the terra nova laser competition 1 which I have used for around 3 years, in 2011 I decided that it would be nice to have a bit more space to relax in after a hard day strolling through the hills. After weighing up my options I chose to stay loyal to the terra nova range and plug for the superlite quasar.
As a backpacking tent it may be a heavy compromise in comparison to the laser comp but what you swap in weight you make up for in space and stability. It remains steady in howling gales, keeps out torrential rain and gives you a confident feeling when you're lying in you're sleeping bag that everything will still be standing in the morning.
I bought the footprint to save ware on the groundsheet which I would recommend anyone who buys it does the same, it's easy to pack and folds
Down in to a small enough pack.

After a number of years of family camping I looked for a 2 person tent. I wanted it to be sufficiently light to be able to backpack or cycle with and strong enough. Terra Nova describe the tent as 4 season backpacking tent which means up to the snow line. It weighs 2.5 kg and packs easily into the supplied stuff sac.
I used it for the first time in May with a solo (car based) trip to the Lake District. It is nice and roomy, with the two porches it is easy to store rucsacs in one end and use the other. Easy to pitch, and the elastic pegging points keep the fabric taught. I like the inner door which opening to the side. It also has storage pockets which are helpful. The sealed groundsheet appears very strong although I bought a further groundsheet that packs to a size less than a tin of beans.
Above all it is robust and withstood 68km/h winds with no problem. It was easy to pitch (inner first) and take down. Bought for £420 and can see it lasting ages.
